When Twitter did a recent redesign of their site, they unveiled a new bird logo that was a bit happier than the old bird.
Since then, an artist named Adam Koford (aka Ape Lad) has been creating custom avatars for his twitter account that use the same shape as the Twitter bird, but in interesting and unique ways.
Sometimes, artists’ imaginations astound me…

Kyle Cassidy gave twenty-three people scattered around the U.S. cameras and told them to wear them everywhere. Then, over a 48-hour period, he sent out eleven text messages to the group asking them to take a picture of whatever happened to be in front of them at the time.
The result is The Hive, a collection of “the quiet, unknown moments that make up our lives”, and a unique and interesting look into the otherwise bland and banal moments that we fill our days with. Take them as a whole and with a bit of structure attached however, and those moments begin to turn into something that’s bold, beautiful and uniquely interesting.

According to Anatowii (which looks suspiciously like a Nintendo advertisement) they look a little something like the image above.
Now, I’m not quite sure where the batteries go in there, but it’s good to know that when you can’t get past that level in Mario and you throw your controller against the wall, it feels your pain too.

This 8-Bit Trip stop motion Lego video has been all over the Internet recently, so if you happen to have missed it until now, prepare yourself for awesome:
I’m always amazed by the regularity that occurs when you look at something with a time frame that is outside of what the human brain can process. (Example: Time lapse or slow motion.) Under the right conditions, the seemingly random and unpredictable can often turns into nice, neat patterns.
One example of this is Flight Patterns, a short clip by Charlie McCarthy that shows the flight patterns of bugs under a streetlight. It was made by stitching together a bunch of long exposure photographs, and shows that each bug has its own unique pattern that it likes to follow.

Another Love is an interesting video by Nat Dart that combines tilt-shift photography, time-lapse and animation to tell a very unique story about a monster.
Though I’m usually not a fan of tilt-shift, that could definitely change if I start to see more work like this.
Posting bills doesn’t usually add to a city’s visual appeal, but the signs that building owners put up to prevent these postings are often as ugly as the thing they’re trying to stop, which is why one group of graffiti artists have created original works of art to let people know that bill posters will be prosecuted, and have sprayed them in popular locations around various cities.
These counter-counter-culture works of art are then documented and posted onto the Bill Posters Project website for the world to see, since presumably, they’re just as likely to get painted over as the bills are.

For just $25, cartoonist Len Peralta will draw you an original monster based on a design of your choosing and then mail you the final piece of art for you to display on the wall. Add $10 more, and he’ll even include a YouTube video of the entire process so that you can watch the creature come to life.
This summer Len is specifically focusing on super-villains with an event called the Summer of Super-villains, so if you give him the name of a potential super-villain, he’ll create a drawing that brings that name to life.
If you’re going to do an oil painting of Lewis Hamilton, then there’s probably no better material to use than the oil out of Lewis’ very own championship winning McLaren F1 car.
According to the (obviously compensated) artist David Macaluso:
Painting with the Mobil 1 used motor oil offered a wide range of tones and was obviously a very refined product from its texture. It was extremely smooth and very particle-rich, with all the engine dirt in perpetual suspension, making for a great painting medium.

Robbie Cooper’s latest project, called Immersion:Porn, definitely earns its NSFW tag.
Featuring videos of people watching porn and interviews with those people about their experiences with porn, why they watch porn, and where they watch porn, it’s a pornapalooza, but it’s also a rather interesting and honest look at an often taboo subject.

Infectious has always been the place to go for some of the best artist designed iPhone skins, iPod skins, car decals, adhesive wall art and laptop art around, and now they’re the place to go for custom skateboard decks as well thanks to a recent purchase of Popdeck, the former skate deck champion.
Both Infectious and Popdeck are similar to Threadless in that artists can submit designs and then the community votes on the winners, which means each new piece of art is unique and there should be plenty to chose from to match your style.
To get the new and improved Popdeck purchase off the ground, Infectious is also hosting an art contest called the Skate Deck Design Challenge, and if your design is one of the first five to be picked to become a skate deck, you’ll win fabulous prizes that range from $1000 in cold hard cash to a limited edition, never to be sold “Infectious Eats Popdeck” skate deck.

The software that they’ve developed automatically calculates and compensates the video for distance, angle, surface, shape, brightness, picture shift, and other variables to create a seamless experience, and with some creative minds behind the end design, the result is a building that literally comes to life before your very own eyes.
