Shwood Turns Good Wood Into Sunglasses

Shwood

Shwood creates beautiful wooden sunglasses that take retro styles and give them a natural twist.

Shwood Blanks

In their own words:

A simple experiment with nature. Born from the limb of a Madrone tree, a rusty pair of cabinet hinges, and lenses from the corner store, Shwood has been a curious endeavor from the beginning. An endeavor to create a product that encompasses the individuality and uniqueness that can only be found in natural surroundings. A desire to experiment with design, materials, and aesthetics in the search for something that works. Free from passing trends, the brands focus remains that of its roots, innovation and creation. Long live creativity.

Shwoods in-house manufacturing process merges precision technology with classic skilled craftsmanship to create a timeless art form. Every step from veneering and precision lens cutting, to shaping and finishing is conducted in our own Portland-based workshop to promise an entirely handcrafted eyewear piece. Wood manipulation is kept to a minimum in order to showcase the mediums natural and unique splendor. All models are accompanied by 100% UVA/UVB protection Carl Zeiss lenses imported from Italy. Polarized lenses are also available.

With collections that range from $125 on up to $195 for limited edition collaborations made with rare and unique woods (including recycled skateboard decks!) there’s a style and a price for everyone, so check out Shwood to see what fits.

Solar Bikini Charges You Up

Solar Bikini

Apparently, not only is this solar bikini real, but it’s going to be available for pre-order soon.

The bikini itself is made from 1″ x 4″ photovoltaic film strips that have been sewn together with conductive thread, terminating in a 5 volt regulator with female USB connector. All told, it pumps out enough juice to charge an iPod while you relax in the sun and soak up the rays.

(The male version, called the iDrink, will put out enough power to charge a custom cooled drink coozy.)

…Nau wants you to practice organizational origami?

Nau Fluent Stash

The Fluent Stash by Nau is made for “organizational origami”.

With its die-cut wool felt design, the Stash is designed to keep your electronics, toiletries, ninja stars, or anything else that you want to keep close at hand organized and ready to go at a moments notice.

With three stash pockets and a zip-secured mesh pocket, it can either be hung for easy access, or folded back on itself so that it’s free-standing.

…The Fold wallet keeps it simple?

The Fold

I’m a big fan of minimalist wallets, so when I saw ‘The Fold’ from Leffot, I was instantly in love.

Essentially just a single piece of Horween shell cordovan (or as they affectionately call it, “horse ass leather”), it holds your cash and cards in place with three simple folds.

Available in Rust, Natural and Dark Brown, you can either order the Small size for US Dollars, or the Large size for International Currencies and a credit card or two if you have more worldly travels in mind.

If you think you need more than that, just remember Leffot’s motto: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

…You need a Lumberjack Hat?

Lumberjack Hat

Etsy user taraduff makes a “Lumberjack Hat” that doesn’t just make you feel like a lumberjack, it also makes you look like one too.

That’s because the knitted stocking cap includes a shaggy knitted beard and mustache that are stored within, and can be pulled over your face if the weather gets cold, or if you just want to look like you know your way around an axe.

Each hat is knitted by hand on a round loom, and the beard/mustache combos are all hand crocheted, so no two are the same. Plus, since each is unique, you can find a color combo that fits your personal style, or order a custom combo if you’ve got something specific in mind.
