Enter: The Velopresso

The Velopresso is a coffee cart on wheels, designed to stay off the grid while enabling a single barista to run the entire operation. The cart itself was designed from the ground up around a custom rear-steer tricycle, a unique pedal-driven grinder, and a robust gas-fired lever espresso machine. The result is a fusion of human power, sensory pleasures and technology – old tech meets new tech, pedal power meets caffeine power, and engineering meets aesthetics.

And since there’s no motors to run or electricity needed, the Velopress doesn’t make a lot of noise, meaning you can have your coffee in relative silence as you enjoy the scenery around you.

If you’re interested in buying your own Velopresso, they’re taking pre-orders in early Summer of 2013, though the company is based out of the UK, so you may need to factor in some shipping if your coffee dreams take you elsewhere.

A Cherpumple is an apple pie, a cherry pie and a pumpkin pie each cooked inside of a cake, and then combined into another cake and then covered in frosting.

The example you see here weighed in at more than 20 pounds, and took 200 guests more than 4 hours to finish.

There are a million different coffee gadgets and gizmos to help you get the most from your beans, but when it comes to tea, there are only a select few ways to brew that really stand out.

Norm Design’s new Tea Pot is one of those, with a cleverly crafted glass kettle that features an integrated tea ball that can be pulled out of the way when it’s time to pour.

To celebrate his roots, Johnny Cupcakes is recreating what got his company started: Slinging wrinkled up, gas scented t-shirts out of his crusty suitcase while on tour with his band.

The tour will take him all across the country, and along the way, he’ll stop at respected businesses, including art galleries, boutiques, bakeries, toy shops, and more, and giving away free treats and surprises at stops along the way.

Threadcakes definitely upped the bar this year, as the winner’s cakes look like spot on (and delicious) reproductions of their printed counterparts.

Jennifer Flynn took home the Grand Prize with her 3D rendition of Noah Express, while Angel Adkins’ ‘Bird Migration’ took 2nd, and Lauren Babis’ interpretation of ‘The Red’ captured 3rd.

Charles and Erik started the Andrews & Dunham Damn Fine Tea company because they were obsessed with tea.

Andrews & Dunham knows that nothing beats a perfect cup of tea, and a great tea needs no explanation. It tastes great, it makes you feel good, it’s good for you. It’s even legal.

In addition, each tea is part of a themed series, and they only sell one series at a time. (So far in quantities of 400.) Once that series sells out, they move on to the next tea and the previous tea will never be sold again. (Probably.)

The first series included a Ceylon, a Chinese green tea called Dragonwell, and a black tea from Nepal, while the second series includes two black teas themed after boxers named Jackee Muntz and Thomas Sampson who are pitted against each other in a contest of strength and stamina.

Ringside seats to this epic battle between men and teas are selling fast though, so you better hurry!

I’m always amazed by the things people can do with deserts.

These cupcakes have been made to look like little hamburgers, with vanilla cupcake buns, chocolate cupcake burger patties, green coconut lettuce, frosting mustard and ketchup, and little sesame seeds held on with a brushing of orange juice.
