Considering some of the reviews I’ve read of Mirror’s Edge (See Yahtzee’s Zero Punctuation Review for an example) Mirror’s Edge 2D might just be the first advergame that’s better than the original!
Mirror’s Edge 2D was developed by Borne Games (the same folks that created the Fancy Pants Adventure series) and it borrows and updates heavily from the already fantastic controls to create a fluid experience that will have you running up walls, sliding under bars, and jumping across chasms in no time.
It’s also a very open game, with lots of room to explore, and you can earn achievements along the way that will help you rank on the global leaderboards that they keep updated with the top scores.
Johnny Kelly’s ‘The Seed’ uses a combination of stop motion, papercraft and 2D animation to create a short that shows the fantastic journey a seed goes through from birth to death to birth again.
You can watch the movie HERE, but also be sure to check out the making of video below, as well as the Flickr Photo Set of Johnny’s work.
By now you’ve probably heard of Mirror’s Edge, the free running/parkour game that is soon to debut for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
However, if you’d like to get in on the action a little early, then check out Mirror’s Edge 2D from Borne Games.
Made by the same people that created the Fancy Pants Adventure, Mirror’s Edge 2D is a free flowing Flash game that closely mirrors the gameplay style of Mirror’s Edge, only in 2D.
The goal is to run, jump, climb and slide your way through the level in a quick but creative way, collecting points and other goodies along the way.
Right now the game is still only in Beta, so you only get one level, and there still might be the occasional bug or two, but there’s definitely promise here, and it’s still fun to play as is, so head on over and give free running a chance.
Shift is like the poor man’s Portal. To solve this puzzle platformer, you must ‘shift’ between yourself and your shadow.
Think of it as a 2D Paper Mario.
The controls are simple (arrow keys move, space jumps, shift shifts) so you can pick it up quickly, but you’ll soon find your brain shifting into high gear as it tries to keep track of what’s up and what’s down.
Crayon Physics Deluxe is a 2D, physics based puzzle game where your drawings turn into real, physical objects, and you must use these objects, an artistic vision, and a creative use of physics to solve various puzzles. Plus, there’s even a level editor so that you can create your own challenges.
Unfortunately, it’s not yet released, [...]
Portal brought ‘think outside the box’ gameplay back into the spotlight with a mix of physics and fun.
If you missed out on the actual thing though, don’t worry, as We Create Stuff has created a 2D Flash version for all your portal needs. It might not have the fancy look and feel of the original [...]
