…It’s Website Wednesday: Google Street View – Laguna Seca?

Laguna Seca Street View

It’s no speed demon, but when the Google Street View car was snapping shots of the roads around Laguna Seca, it also managed to grab some track time with a few of the ALMS race cars, including the Corvette C6.R, the Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSR, the Lola B08/86 Mazda, the Acura ARX-01b and the Audi R10 TDI.

…Audi is putting LED bulbs in their R8 headlights?

Audi R8 Headlight

When the V10 equipped Audi R8 hits the streets, it will be the first car in the world to have both high and low beam LED headlights as standard equipment. (The 2009 Cadillac Escalade Platinum will be the first vehicle in the world to offer the all-LED technology.)

You’ve probably already seen Audis driving around with LED driving lights in the grill, and LED taillights are nothing new, but this will be the first time an all-LED system is used for the headlights, and it’s supposed to use a quarter the energy of a typical halogen bulb, while providing a brighter, whiter light.

Sure, you need to put down six figures for the privilege, but at least automakers are taking steps in the right direction to utilize new technologies that are better for the environment, while being better for us in the process.

…BRABUS tuned the Tesla?

BRABUS Tesla

Being all-electric didn’t stopped BRABUS from getting their tuner hands on the new Tesla, but is did stopped them from making changes to the drivetrain, suspension, or even a majority of the body panels.

Instead what they focused on was gadgets and gizmos to add to the already gadget and gizmo filled ride.

Changes include a “space sound generator” that gives you the sound of a simulated V8, simulated race car, or two “futuristic soundscapes” named ‘Beam’ and ‘Warp’ when you mash the go pedal, “space lights” (better known as an underbody kit), a new rear spoiler and rear diffuser, front lip and integrated daytime running lights (stolen from Audi), and a custom-tailored BRABUS interior and tire/wheel combo.

Apparently BRABUS felt that the Tesla was some sort of sacred ground, because this is definitely the lightest hand they’ve touched any car with, but hey, at least it’s a start.

Now bring on the widebody kits!

…Audi’s R8 GT3 is ready to race?

Audi R8 GT3

Go racing in style with Audi’s R8 GT3.

Designed to compete in rear-wheel-drive, GT3-spec racing, the R8 GT3 will more than likely break through the 500 HP barrier, as well as tack on a six-speed sequential sports gearbox, tons of carbon fiber bits and pieces, and the aerodynamic changes seen here. Due to GT3 rules, the suspension will more or less stay the same, but who’s going to complain about that?

…Spyker wants to give you race ready power?

Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85

Spyker’s C8 Laviolette LM85 is based on their GT2R race car that’s based on their C8 Laviolette, and despite a strange heritage, this looks like one rad ride.

Featuring a 4.2-liter Audi V8 that produces 400 horsepower, a 6-speed manual feeds that power to the black powder coated alloy wheels, which are then stopped (when needed) by 6-piston AP Racing brakes.

Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 Interior

The paint scheme is derived from their GT2R, a carbon fiber spoiler rounds out the rear, and the interior features plenty of black leather and alcantara to justify the price tag.

No word on what that price tag might be, but it’s pretty safe to assume that this Dutch beauty won’t be cheap.

Who said money couldn’t buy happiness?
