…The Rolls Royce knows how to handle a purse?

Sure, you’re car can handle better than most thanks to a new set of tires and an upgraded suspension, but can it handle… a purse?

The new Rolls Royce 200EX features a purse holder that actually pops out of the rear seat, and when you put a purse on it, the holder automatically grabs the purse and gives it a light squeeze so that it doesn’t go flying around the cabin when you take your Rolls into the twisties.

Don’t believe me?

…McDonald’s is trying to be automatic?

The last time I was at a McDonald’s, I pulled up to the drive through window and was amazed by what I saw: A machine that prepares your entire drink order without ever needing human interaction.

Here’s the process it goes through: It drops the right size cup (depending on what you order) onto a conveyor belt, moves that cup under an ice dispenser and fills it with ice, moves the cup again under the right soda tap and fills it with the right amount of soda, waits for the fizz to die down, tops it off with more soda, and then moves to where the McDonald’s employee can pick it up. About the only thing it doesn’t do is add a lid, and my guess is that the ability to lid a drink isn’t far off.

Thankfully someone found this whole process as amazing as I did, because I was able to find this video of the machine on YouTube:

I’ve always felt that McDonald’s is going to do everything it can to cut its workers out of the process, and this drink machine just goes to show that the direction they’re heading in is definitely a fully automatic, robotic McDonalds.

Want fries with that?

…David Bergman’s Gigapan image of Obama is amazing?

Gigapan Obama Inauguration

To really give you an idea of what it was like to attend President Obama’s Inaugural Address with more than a million other people, David Bergman used the GigaPan EPIC to capture 220 images with his Canon G10, and then stitch them together into a final image that’s more than 1,474-Megapixels big!

The final size is 59,783 x 24,658 pixels, and it takes up almost two gigs of data, but if you go to the Gigapan site, you can click and zoom around within the image to view all of the amazing details that were captured by David. People have even gone through and annotated interesting things to see, so you can just click on what looks good and let the software fly and zoom you into place automatically.

…Donkey Kong likes Legos?

With a Mindstorms RCX kit and a lot of creative ingenuity, Dan Kressin managed to recreate an entire Donkey Kong level using only Legos.

In all, it took him about three months or 110-120 hours to complete, and the end result is a fully automatic and synchronized art piece that even plays the Donkey Kong theme song while the action happens.
