…It’s Tuner Tuesday: C1-RS?


I got a chance to check out the Roadster Shop’s C1-RS Corvette this past weekend at the Goodguys West Coast Nationals, and was AMAZED by the level of detail in this award winning street machine. (Street Machine of the Year to be exact.)

Under the hood lies a 618 horsepower LS7 with a T-56 transmission that does its best to transfer all 640ft lbs of torque, while Detroit Speed & Engineering suspension keeps the tires planted and 14” Brembos bring everything to a stop.

Outside, the ‘vette features carbon fiber side louvers, a front end that was entirely customized out of aluminum (including all grills, grille surrounds, front bumper and grille bar) and a rear end with enough carbon fiber to make an F1 team jealous.

Inside, it’s all luxury, with Italian leather, Alcantara suede, a hand-sculpted aluminum dash, and Classic Instruments carbon fiber gauges all around.

In sum, it’s a car that has been thought through, massaged over and customized to perfection, with few peers and no substitutes.

…The Mission One will change motorcycles forever?

When three of the guys behind the Tesla Roadster set out to build a motorcycle, you know it’s not going to be your run of the mill bike.

And you’d be right. The Mission One from Mission Motors wants to redefine the way we think of two-wheeled transportation by creating an all-electric motorcycle that performs as good (if not better) than it looks while creating zero emissions along the way. Using a combination of lithium ion batteries, a high performance electric motor, and an onboard computer system, the Mission One is designed to go 150 miles on a single charge and top out at 150 miles per hour.

Batteries have long been the limiting factor for electric vehicles, since they’re seen as heavy, large and expensive, but with Mission One’s lithium ion batteries, the bike can be lighter, cheaper, and carry more energy, and it’ll only take 2 hours to charge between fun runs. The bike also uses a regenerative braking system to gain back some of the energy typically lost during a ride.

On the performance side of things, the electric motor means you can tap all 100 foot-pounds of torque at any time from 0-60 mph, giving you a limitless torque curve that can pull you out of any tricky turn. Ohlins forks, Ohlins shocks, Brembo brakes and Marchesini wheels round out the physical components, while a real time wireless data acquisition system ensures that the rider knows at all times exactly what’s going on at the track and on the street.

The body itself was designed by Yves Behar of Fuse Project, the man behind the Jawbone headset, so it also looks as good as it performs. With angular lines, modern materials and a sleek, futuristic silhouette, it’s like a combination of a Ducati and a KTM that work well in all the right places.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Obsidian SG-One?

The Obsidian SG-One is in a class all its own, and is possibly (probably) one of the coolest custom cars I’ve ever seen.

What you see here started life as a 1967 Mustang, but didn’t stay that way for long.

The first to go was the engine, and it was quickly replaced with a 392 cubic inch V8 making 847.8 horsepower and 770 lbs. ft. of torque on 91-octane pump gas. Twin Rotrex C38-81 superchargers feed through twin air-to-air intercoolers, down through a custom aluminum intake, and past the Big Stuff 3 fuel injection system.

What’s the resulting performance?

0-60 in under three seconds, and an estimated top speed of over 210 MPH.

Power is then routed through a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed with Master Shift paddle shifters and a Mittler Brothers 9” rear end.

Chassis refinements include an integrated tubular chassis, 4-point hidden roll cage, redesigned shock towers and reinforced frame rails, and a full 4-piece belly pan.

Coil over suspension on all four corners keep the 18” and 20” wheels firmly planted, and 14” Brembo brakes slow everything down if needed.

Obsidian SG-One Interior

The interior features a 2-seat conversion with heated Recaro seats, a 3,000 watt Kicker sound system including GPS navigation, XM radio, mobile wi-fi, and more. The hand crafted dash board, door panels, headliner, center console, and rear panels all fit like a glove, and the billet accessories are sprinkled throughout to keep everything sparkling.

Outside, a 2005 Mustang front end was grafted on, including custom headlights and turn signals, a custom hood vents the massive power plant, flared fenders tuck the wheels away, and custom billet grills and tail light panel finish off the look.

According to the current owner, over 15,000 hours of work went into creating this perfect pony, at a duplication cost of approximately $1.3 million. Sure, you could get a Bugatti Veyron for that kind of coin, but who wants something that 499 of your closest billionaire buddies have too?

Not I, said the oil tycoon.

Does the world need a million dollar mustang?

No, but I’ll bet it sure is glad it has one.

…The Ferrari California is here?

Though it might look a little funky from the front, it’s all business from the back and sides.

Ferrari just announced the “hugely versatile, innovation-packed GT Maranello” they’re calling the Ferrari California. (Take that, other states!)

Featuring 8-cylinders of mid-front mounted Grand Tourer power, it’s exclusively a convertible with a folding hard top for when you’re ready to mess up the ‘do.


0 – 100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds, 7-speed dual clutch transmission, multilink rear suspension, F1-Trac traction control system, Brembo brakes, carbon-ceramic discs, etc. Basically, if you want it in a sports car, then it’s there.

To me, the front looks a little bubbly, and the wheels don’t do anything for me, but the back looks pretty good with single tail lights and vertical exhaust, and the side looks pretty good as well with classic proportions, so maybe this prancing horse will grow on me soon enough.

Called the C6RS, it features a full carbon fiber body (1.6” wider than a Z06), BBS center nut aluminum wheels (18×11” in the front, 19×13.6” in the rear), a fully customized interior, a fully tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, and a 600 hp, 600 ft lb, 8.2 L monster of an engine.

Plus, for the eco friendly, it runs off E85 fuel.


$185,000, plus the cost of the donor car.

I guess eco power doesn’t come cheap!
