…Gazeta Mercantil doesn’t like the dollar?

Gazeta Mercantil Dollar

Gazeta Mercantil created a fantastic series of arted out bills for ads about their financial coverage titled “Understand the real value of money”.

The Dollar, Yen, and Euro were all featured, and each included powerful reminders of the host country’s history, and what went into the creation of each currency.

…USPS is impressive?

USPS

Mail is a magical thing.

You handwrite an address on an envelope and attach a stamp to the outside, and a few days later your letter arrives exactly where it’s supposed to be.

So how does the USPS manage to handle 703 million pieces of mail per day?

Good Magazine has put together an impressive graphic representation of a comparison between FedEx, UPS, DHL and the USPS, and the numbers are staggering:

700,000 employees, $73 billion revenue, 37,000 post offices, and 216,000 vehicles, all to deliver you your bills, Netflix, and credit card offers.

Rain, sleet or snow indeed.

…You can do Washington, DC on $85 a day?

Washington, DC On $85 A Day

While traveling around Washington, DC, Flickr user Musely had an interesting idea called Washington, DC on $85 a Day.

Since the US $5, $10, $20, and $50 bills all feature buildings that are located in Washington (the Lincoln Memorial, US Treasury, White House and Capitol buildings respectively) he walked around until he found the place wither each illustration was made, lined up the bill, and snapped away.

It’s old meets new in a very interesting sort of way.

…Money makes great origami?

Money Origami

By folding bills like origami, artists are able to create rather unique portraits of some of the world’s most famous people.

Unfortunately, no instructions are included, but hopefully this is enough inspiration for you to figure it out on your own.

…Ugly money can be beautiful?

Homer Front

Homer Back

Since 1998, Johnny Bitter, owner of Johnny Burrito, has been collecting funny money that has come across his counter from “unsung artists, poets, philosophers & pundits” who use national currency as a medium. His collection includes bills that have been drawn on, written on, mutilated, stamped, and even the occasional coin. I wonder how much some of this art would cost.
