…Cupcakes can look meaty?

Hamburger Cupcakes

I’m always amazed by the things people can do with deserts.

These cupcakes have been made to look like little hamburgers, with vanilla cupcake buns, chocolate cupcake burger patties, green coconut lettuce, frosting mustard and ketchup, and little sesame seeds held on with a brushing of orange juice.

Genius, and delicious!

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Nike Ill-Mobile?

Nike Ill-Mobile

If you want to go anywhere and do anything, then you need a…Nike Ill-Mobile?

The as yet nameless machine is “a souped-up, tricked out, action sports shred-mobile: part amphib, part 1970’s camper, and 100% rock and roll”.

The 8-wheeled ill-mobile can cross deserts, climb mountains, and search out any secret spot on the planet. Once there, it deploys rack mounted bikes, surfboards, wakeboards, and skateboards for any session that you can throw at it.

Can’t find a place to board?

No problem.

Grind rails line the sides, and a quarter pipe folds down from the rear for an impromptu session.

Need to chill for a bit?

Got you covered there too. The ill-mobile has an on deck bbq, a deluxe camper shell, a basement couch front seat, and a stereo to piss the neighbors off with if you ever have any.

Ride on.

…The Pickle Sickle is exactly what it sounds like?

Pickle Sickle

Nothing says Summer like a nice frozen bar of…pickle juice?

The Pickle Sickle is a frozen pop (similar to an Otter Pop) that’s made from 100% pickle parts, and it’s apparently healthy in addition to being tasty (or so they say).

Though it’s not exactly the thing you’d expect in the frozen deserts isle, it could be just what you’ve been looking for to cool you down after a hot day of play.

Or it could be gross.

…The Beginning looks great?

Combine Tony Hawk’s and Shaun White’s forces, and the world might not be ready for the result.

The new Birdhouse video, called “The Beginning”, features the dynamic duo doing their thing on a super-ramp that they built out in the desert, and some of the scenes are truly breathtaking:

Other appearances in the video include Matt Ball, Steve Nesser, Brian Sumner, Willy Santos, Jeremy Klein, Jean Postec, Justin “Figgy” Figueroa, David Loy, Sean Eaton, Shaun Gregoire, Randy Ploesser, Derek Burdette, Riley Hawk and Nate Lacoste.

[Note: You may recognize this video from the Website Wednesday: Shred or Die post. This one is the extended version however, and features a lot more Hawk and White action.]

…Junior doesn’t need a driver?

Junior

Stanley may have put Stanford on the map, but Junior wants to put the map away entirely and just go it alone. Part of the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge, an unmanned vehicle competition, Junior is Stanford’s entry; and considering their track record, is sure to be a strong showing among the fierce competitors. Junior has some big shoes to fill though, as Stanley did take home the crown of the 2005 DARPA Challenge, a feat that required it to traverse 132 miles of barely charted desert land without any direct human intervention. For the 2007 DARPA Challenge, vehicles will travel through a 60-mile urban area course, obeying all traffic regulations, negotiating other traffic and obstacles, and merging into traffic, all on their own.

Junior isn’t just any old driverless car though; it features every gadget and gizmo an intelligent car could wish for, including a 360-degree laser rangefinder, bumper mounted lasers, RADAR, GPS, and a whole bunch of other things that are so complicated they are referred to by acronym only. Make sure to tune in November 3 to find out if Junior can continue Stanford’s excellence, or if a new king of the driverless town will be crowned.
