…Whitoken gives your iPod Touch a second life?

Like everything Apple, the iPod Touch’s design is a study in simplistic beauty.

However, as with most things tech, there are those that just can’t help but tinker, which is why one crafty designer named 6mik has created a theme for jailbroken iPod Touches called Whitoken that gives a whole new look and feel to the default interface. (And reminds me a lot of Marvin the Paranoid Android from Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy.)

…It’s Website Wednesday: Scanwiches?

If you think that “scans of sandwiches for education and delight” doesn’t sound like a deliciously good time, then you obviously haven’t been to Scanwiches.

The website itself is run by Jon Chonko, a thehappycorp global designer, and to make the images, he takes sandwiches from the lunch shops around NYC, cuts them in half, scans the results, and then adds the image along with a written description of the ingredients to the Tumblr account.

If you’re getting ready to visit the site, I have one warning for you: Don’t visit the site on an empty stomach, because monitors don’t like to be licked.

…It’s Website Wednesday: Card Observer?

Card Observer

Card Observer is a design inspiration gallery that does only one thing but it does it extremely well: Collect the best business cards from around the web and display them in all their glory to help inspire your next great business card design.

The site itself has a very clean look and feel to it, and the photography is definitely top notch. Each card features a full size image, and a word or two about the design from the designers themselves.

If you’re tired of just showing off your name and phone number when handing out your business cards, then take a look through Card Observer and see what strikes your fancy, because I bet you can get an idea or two from just a brief look around at what’s on display.

…I’m A Designer?

I'm A Designer And...

I’m A Designer And… is a neat little concept site where designers can add their ending to the sentence, and a stream of past results are shown so you can see what it’s like to live as a designer.

That’s really all there is too it, but the single sentence insight is interesting to read and you might be surprised by what goes on in the heads of these guys.

…It’s Website Wednesday: Could Be Me?

Could Be Me

Could Be Me is “a project exploring possibility of one artist occupying another’s space. It is a visual adventure and an interpretation of the same sentence by different artists worldwide”.

In less artsy speak, Could Be Me is a collection of images (now more than 100) done by different designers, illustrators and artists from all over the world that feature the phrase “It could be me, but it’s actually Paul Paper”.

Each design is done in the signature style of each artist, and is an interesting look into how different artists approach the same theme in very different ways.
