…Belvedere Vodka makes Mr. IX come to life?

Mr. IX

I don’t know if it should be called borrowed or stole, but Belvedere Vodka’s Mr. IX ad seems to draw heavily from BLU’s Muto.

Either way, it’s an entertaining idea, and definitely a unique ad, so check it out:

…It’s Website Wednesday: Now?

Sprint Now

Sure, it’s just an ad for Sprint’s wireless data plans, but “Now” is also a fantastically imaginative take on what a start page can be.

The “Now” page is filled with widgets, and each one moves and changes to show some sort of interesting fact or figure when you visit the page. Then, when you mouse over a widget, you can begin to interact with it, either by updating the fact, playing a game, seeing more information, or a number of other unique actions that vary from widget to widget. Plus, if you want to see the data behind the widget, you can flip them over for added info on where each widget’s data comes from.

There’s also a futuristic sounding Now woman that guides you through the site, and gives you the occasional clever sound bite about what’s going on ‘Now’ (though they do get annoying after a short time) and a mechanical sounding noise that plays in the background (because apparently we still haven’t managed to make silent computers in the future), but it’s still a rather entertaining and informative experience that encourages you to play and learn at the same time.

…It’s TGI Friday: Matt Sandorf: Journey to Endless Entertainment?

Matt Sandorf: Journey to Endless Entertainment

Matt Sandorf: Journey to Endless Entertainment is an advergame for Sony that lets you guide Matt point-and-click style through a futuristic spaceship.

Despite being an advertisement, Matt Sandorf is actually entertaining, and looks great as well. The gameplay has a very smoothed over, top down style to it, and the cut scenes are all done as rather unique, charcoal style drawings.

The game is also surprisingly difficult, and doesn’t let you get away with much, though it does contain enough twists, turns and jokes to keep you working your way through it and intrigued along the way.

If you get stuck, there’s a walkthrough available from Jay is Games, but I encourage you to stick with it, because there are few advergames that are this rewarding.

…YouTube smokes?

Burning Cigarette

It’s not exactly the most entertaining set of YouTube videos, but Rafael Rozendaal’s Burning Cigarette is definitely a unique use of the medium.

Start the videos as fast as you can from right to left to get the full effect.
