…The Thing Quarterly is a unique bit of news?

The Thing Quarterly

The Thing Quarterly is a ‘periodical’ that arrives in the form of an object. For each issue, an artist, writer, musician or filmmaker is invited by the editors (Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan) to create a useful object that somehow incorporates text. The object is then reproduced and hand wrapped at a wrapping party, and mailed to subscribers with the help of the United States Postal Service.

Previous issues include a cutting board, a deck of playing cards, and a mug, so you never know exactly what you’re going to get, though it’s pretty much guaranteed to be unique, fun and/or awesome.

…Perkin’s 14 is crowdsourced horror?

Perkin's 14

Perkin’s 14 is the first ever feature film from Massify, a film production company that uses crowdsourcing to connect filmmakers, actors, critics and the community and help them collaborate to get films made.

From story selection and casting to post production, launch and promotion, the Massify community has been hands on with every part of the film, including the review of more than 400 initial story pitches, casting of each and every roll, and a competition for the official poster design.

The film is set to debut during January’s Horrorfest III, but if you’d like to sneak a peak into what Perkin’s 14 is all about, just visit the Massify site and check out some of the behind-the-scenes footage and other goodies that are sure to peak your interest.

…It’s Movie Monday: Four Eyed Monsters?

Four Eyed Monsters

Four Eyed Monsters is a film about “being alone in a city, wanting to be in a relationship but feeling there are no good ways to start a connection and then breaking out of a rut, jumping feet first into something deeper and crazier than either of [the filmmakers] expected”.

Four Eyed Monsters was also “the first feature length movie to be uploaded to YouTube in its entirety”.
