…It’s hard to win an Academy Award?

Making an Academy Award winning film is hard right?

I mean, it’s not as if there’s just some kind of formu… oh wait, there is:

…It’s Things Thursday: TCHO?

TCHO is a very interesting chocolate company. Founded by a Space Shuttle technologist turned chocolate maker and a grizzled industry veteran who set up chocolate factories for 40 years from Costa Rica to Germany, TCHO takes a decidedly tech approach to the chocolate making process.

As such, they released a ‘beta’ version of their chocolate over a year ago, and have encouraged their customers to help develop the products through limited run, “beta editions” of the chocolate ever since.

TCHO Flavor Wheel

The enthusiastic ‘beta testers’ quickly moved their way through 1026 iterations of the chocolate, and after a solid year of very hard work, “Chocolatey”, “Fruity”, “Nutty” and “Citrus” flavors have all arrived and are ready for a “gold master” release, including new packaging and a finalized formula.

TCHO’s chocolate formula might have just graduated out of beta, but their factory certainly has not, as it’s been designed to produce more than 4,000 metric tons of chocolate per year, which makes them one of only a dozen other major chocolate manufacturers in the US.

In addition, TCHO has a social mission as well, and intends to move beyond just Fair Trade, and actually help farmers by transferring knowledge of how to grow and ferment better beans so that they can escape commodity production and become premium producers.

“In the end, there’s only one way to truly understand this story. Just put it in your mouth.”

…It’s Website Wednesday: Eat Drink or Die?

Eat Drink or Die

Eat Drink or Die is the third site from the creators of Funny or Die and Shred or Die, and focuses, surprisingly enough, on food.

The site works by using a rating system to pick out the quality (delicious) content, and killing the rest. The rating system breaks down as follows:

Rating System

In addition to daily shows and exclusive content, Eat Drink or Die also breaks their videos down by topic, so that you can see what’s popular in any of these channels:

It’s not just videos though, as Eat Drink or Die also features exclusive blogs that you can read between meals, such as:

Apparently the ‘or Die’ crew has got their formula down, because it works well, and delivers you fantastic, and often exclusive content, in an easy to sort and understand manner.

…Your bacon sandwich isn’t perfect?

Want to know a tasty math formula?

    Bacon SandwichN = C + {fb (cm) . fb (tc)} + fb (Ts) + fc . ta

Where N=force in Newtons required to break the cooked bacon, fb=function of the bacon type, fc=function of the condiment/filling effect, Ts=serving temperature, tc=cooking time, ta=time or duration of application of condiment/filling, cm=cooking method, C=Newtons required to break uncooked bacon.

According to scientists at the Leeds University, if you can follow the above formula, you will have created the perfect bacon sandwich.

How do they know? They spent 1,000 hours testing 700 variations on the traditional bacon sandwich to discover that

Two or three back bacon rashers should be cooked under a preheated oven grill for seven minutes at about 240C (475F).
The bacon should then be placed between two slices of farmhouse bread, 1cm to 2cm thick.

Who knew science could be so delicious?

…There is a perfect bottom?

The Quest

The Quest for the Perfect Bottom is one man’s quest for, you guessed it, the perfect female bottom. Dr. David Homes of Manchester Metropolitan University (best job ever) developed a simple formula for a more scientific approach to the perfect bottom: (S+C) x (B+F)/T = V, where S is the shape, C is sphericity, B is muscular bounce, F is firmness, T is the skin texture/cellulite amount and V is the hip to waist ratio, or symmetry. The Quest, however, prefers a simpler approach: a blog, with plenty of pictures and videos of female derrieres to analyze and draw your own conclusions upon. It takes a brave and noble man to take on a quest such as this though, so enter at your own risk (though The Quest does not contain any pornography or explicit pictures, it’s still probably/definitely NSFW).
