…The RENNtech/Aixro XR50 is a quick kart?

RENNtech/Aixro XR50

RENNtech is known for making Benzmobiles go like rocketships, and the Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722 GT makes 671 horsepower, but for true speed, you need to check out the RENNtech/Aixro XR50, a kart with a 50 horsepower rotary engine that weighs little more than the driver itself.

Featuring body mods that mimic its bigger brother, the XR50, which sits just inches off the ground, is probably one of the most fun (and most scary) means of four-wheel transportation ever created.

Just remember: Keep it rubber side down.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Divers Street Rods?

What do you get when you combine a 1960 Rambler Wagon Estate, a wrecked 2002 Ferrari F360 drivetrain, suspension and interior, some amazing fabrication skills, and a dream? You get the Ferrambo, a project that is underway over at Divers Street Rods.

Ferrambo Composite

Though it’s currently in a pretty rough state, the end result should be amazing, with the prancing horse lending quite a few cues to the final design.

Ford GT Street Rod

If that’s not enough, Divers is also working on a ’39 street rod that they’re installing a Ford GT engine into. Amazing.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Hennessey?

Hennessey Engine

Hennessey is the self-proclaimed “Home of the World’s Quickest, Fastest & Most Powerful Vipers”, and after seeing their latest creation, I have no reason to doubt that claim. The 2007 Venom 1000 Twin Turbo SRT is a force to be reckoned with, featuring 1000 hp and 1100 lb-ft of torque from the 8.4 liter (522 cubic inch) stroker motor.

Hennessey Front

Hennessey Rear

With 0-60 times of 2.9 seconds, 0-100 times of 5.8 seconds, and a top speed of 255 mph, the number of cars that will outperform this beast can be counted on a single finger. Power comes from twin Garrett ball bearing turbos and a host of other engine tweaks including a front mounted air-to-air intercooler. Aesthetic modifications include a VenomAero body kit comprised of a front airdam, rear diffuser and a spoiler.

Hennessey Wheel

Traction (or what’s left of it) is improved with a lowered suspension featuring adjustable coil over shocks, a Brembo upgraded brake system, a differential upgrade, and Hennessey Venom 7R forged aluminum wheels (19×10 in the front, 20×13 in the rear) sporting Michelin Pilot tires.

Hennessey Interior

Inside, you’re treated to Connelly leather seats, 5-point racing harnesses, a DVD navigation system, and custom floor mats. They even throw in a 2 year, 24,000-mile warranty (though it probably doesn’t cover the damage you’ll do when you park it around a tree). Thankfully, to aid in your survival, each purchase comes with a 1-day private track session with famed instructor Brian Smith (who, being a Viper test pilot, might just have the best job in the world). If looks to kill for and performance to die for don’t get your heart pumping, just consider the fact that you’re getting better performance than a Bugatti Veyron for 1/7 the price. At just $225,000, you better hurry your little millionaire ass off though, as they’re only going to let 24 lucky buyers in on the chance to solidify their place in the automotive history books.

…It’s Things Thursay: Carma Sutra?

Carma Sutra

When I first saw the cover of this book, I though it was a well executed and well Photoshoped joke. Strangely enough though, it’s an actual book, with actual advice for how to get it on in (and possibly on) a car. Insights include the obvious, like avoiding gearshifts and seatbelts, to the more heavily researched, like the best cars (Lincoln Town Car, Volvo V70), and the worst cars (Honda Insight, Ford GT). There are illustrations and advice for over 20 makes and models, from compacts and sedans to hybrids and SUVs, and there are even two included double-page gatefolds for taxicab eroticism and limousine service. If you’ve been looking to rev up your sex life, then maybe this glove-compartment-sized guide is just the ticket. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.

…It’s Movie Monday: Redline?

Redline Poster

Porsche Carrera GT Wreck

They could take out all of the actors and just have a bunch of cars driving around and I still think I’d want to go see Redline. Described as The Fast and The Furious for exotics, this Daniel Sadek creation is a who’s who of the supercar world, including Ferrari, Saleen, Koenigsegg, Ford, Lamborghini, Mercedes, McLaren, and Porsche. Though I’m sure the acting by such greats as Eddie Griffin, Nathan Phillips and Nadia Bjorlin will be nothing short of Oscar worthy, it’s all about the car porn anyways. Plus, they even manage to wreck a perfectly good Porsche Carrera GT at some point in the plot line. Set for a February 23rd release date, this is going to be the car movie of 2007. Fear Nothing, Risk Everything.
