…Truffles are expensive?

Truffle

To me, this looks like any other edible fungus. Though I’m sure it’s tasty, I don’t see anything special. To Gordon Wu, a Hong Kong property tycoon, this looks like the makings of a $160,406 meal. At a recent auction, Gordon and his wife shelled out enough money to buy a small house for this 3.3 pound Alba white truffle, setting a new Guinness World Record for most valuable truffle bought at an auction in the process. The giant truffle will be made into a five-course banquet by Ritz-Carlton hotel cook Umberto Bombana, and $100 bills will be handed out as napkins. Thankfully, proceeds from the auction go to Mother’s Choice, a Hong Kong charity. Must be nice.

…The world record for SMSing has been broken?

The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.

How fast could you text message that to someone? If you can do it in less than 41.52 seconds, you may be a world record contender. Sixteen-year-old Ang Chuang Yang recently set a new Guinness World Record for shortest time needed to type that 160-character SMS message, beating the previous record of 42.22 seconds by American Ben Cook. What’s Ang’s secret? Use a mobile phone with larger keys on the dial pad. A simple strategy, yet one that is so often overlooked in the world of SMS messing competitions. Following the victory, Ang was awarded the official spokesperson position for Band-Aid blister treatment.

…It’s possible to wear 155 shirts at the same time?

The new world record for most t-shirts worn at one time has been set, and it’s a staggering 155 shirts, weighing in at over 100 pounds. It took Matt McAllister over 4 hours to put on all the shirts, sized small through 10XL (that’s XXXXXXXXXXL), but what’s a little waste of time in the name of everlasting Guinness World Record glory? The video gives you an idea of just what goes into setting such a record, though sadly there is no mention of exactly how one goes about taking off such a record setting feat (Without a definitive answer, I’m left to imagine a giant t-shirt chainsaw making short work of the whole process, but that’s just me).
