…The Retriever saves you from traffic?

The Retriever

The Retriever is designed to go where most tow trucks can only dream: In between lanes of traffic!

When a car breaks down, it usually blocks at least one lane of traffic, slowing everyone down, including the recovery vehicle that is trying to get to the scene so that it can clear traffic again.

However, The Retriever, a (heavily) modified 1800cc Honda Goldwing motorcycle, is designed to go through and around that traffic, and get to the scene faster than any other recovery vehicle.

Once there, a winch assisted trailer deploys from the rear, and the three-wheel design isolates the bike form the weight of the car, allowing The Retriever to handle like a normal bike. Hydraulic aids help lift the car and get it ready for transport, and a separate brake system for the trailer ensure that The Retriever can come to a stop when needed.

…Your Focus wants to join the orchestra?

In the spirit of Honda’s Cog commercial comes this new Ford spot for the UK Focus that turned and tuned various parts from the car into musical instruments.

There’s the “Transmission Case Cello-Dulcimer”, a “Clutch Guitar”, a “Rear Suspension Spike Fiddle”, and a “Fender Bass” among other things, and each one manages to sound good when mashed with the rest.

Though there’s no way of telling if these parts actually played music, or if they just played the part, it sure does look convincing.

I guess it’s time that I re-up my Fender Bass lessons!

…Honda solved the Problem Playground?

From the company that brought you the Honda Cog ad (Wieden+Kennedy) comes a new one called Problem Playground to help promo Honda’s new FCX Clarity.

The idea is that gaming goes hand in hand with the problem solving that Honda’s engineers had to do to create the first zero-emission hydrogen car, and the execution is on par with the rest of their fantastic spots.

The Kimini 2.2 is a “from-scratch, home-built, carbon shelled, mid-engined (Honda Prelude VTEC 4-cylinder) Mini.

After 3,000 hours of labor and $20K in components and material, I’d say the end result speaks for itself.
