…Lakai wants it My Way?

Lakai My Way

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Lakai shoe designer?

Then show them what you’ve got with the Lakai My Way Colorway Contest.

Entry is easy: On the Lakai site, simply grab a Telford or a Manchester Select design template, and then color them in any way you like. Then, send in your colorway to the Lakai team, and if they like your style, it’ll be turned into a shoe for the Fall ’09 catalog.

…It’s Things Thursday: Lakai Recycled Program?

Lakai Recycled Program

If you’d like to go green in style, then check out the Lakai Recycled Program.

By “applying excess shoe materials that would otherwise be thrown away to selected styles each season”, Lakai is turning trash into unique pairs of kicks that are good looking and good for the environment.

In addition to the recycled materials (leather, suede, mesh) the Recycled Program shoes will also feature soles comprised of new gum rubber mixed with regrind rubber waste, reducing new material by up to 50%.

Another benefit of the program is that each shoe will have a unique look that is the result of whatever materials they happened to have around that day, so no two pairs will share the same material and/or color combinations.

Are you ready to go green?

…Street Pirates are sweet kicks?

Street Pirates

Just got a new pair of kicks, the Lakai Limited Mariano Street Pirates. I love that they’re subtle with little a bit of colorful flavor thrown in the mix, and I dig anything that comes with a skull and crossbones (crossboards) predominantly featured.. Also, I couldn’t find the right size locally, so I went through Utility Board Supply and can recommend them without doubt. Shipping was fast, customer service was excellent, and I even saved a few bucks off the local price. Sweet.
