…St. Pauli has a new Girl, and her name is Katarina Van Derham?

St Pauli Girl Katarina Van Derham

After what must have been a very long and grueling search, St. Pauli has finally found their St. Pauli Girl for 2009, and it’s a “successful print and TV model” named Katarina Van Derham.

In case you were worried that the St. Pauli Girl was going to be anything less than perfect, just be happy to know that Katarina is 5’6” tall with blonde hair and blue-green eyes, is fluent in five languages including English, Slovak, Czech, Russian and Polish, has modeled for Vogue, Marie Claire, FHM and Iron Man, has been featured in ad campaigns for AT&T, Bicycle Casino, Rockstar Energy Drink and Dodge, is trained in Krav Maga, a military self-defense technique, enjoys kick-boxing, wrestling and playing basketball, volleyball and table tennis, and when she’s not modeling, she’s developing her own make-up line and working on architectural graphic design.

Oh, and she looks good in a Bavarian Beer Girl costume. (Holding Photoshopped beers if you look closely at the image above.)

…Some models are ageless?

Multi-Age Model

With clever make-up, deceptive lighting, and a few well-practiced poses, one 20-year-old model has managed to look 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 years old in a shoot done for Vogue Paris.

Seems like there’s a Dove ad in here somewhere…

…Beauty pageants are dangerous?

Ingrid Marie RiveraThis story is almost too good to be true: During this year’s Miss Puerto Rico pageant, Ingrid Marie Rivera managed to win, despite having her gown and make-up spiked with pepper spray.

Though composed onstage, Marie had to run backstage and strip off her clothes to apply ice bags to her face and body as she swelled up and broke out in hives twice during the competition.

Need a bit of extra excitement to add to the movie script?

Due to a bomb threat, officials had already postponed the last day of the pageant to ensure everyone’s safety.

Who knew the world of beauty could be so deadly?
