…Grand Opening wants to be a Wedding Chapel?

Grand Opening Wedding Chapel

Grand Opening is currently trying to reinvent their space as a wedding chapel, and is using Kickstarter to raise funds for the cause.

Since big church weddings are ‘out’ this year, Wedding Chapel hopes to be a recession-proof, ultra cool solution for loved ones, friends and family.

“Wedding Chapel” will be New York City’s most fun and affordable wedding spot, offering couples the chance to have long lasting memories without a church or city hall.

The way Kickstarter works is that projects can ask for money, and then people can donate in exchange for certain rewards. In this case, any donor of any amount will have his or her name displayed on the wall of the chapel, and pledges of $100 or more can reserve Wedding Chapel for an hour or more for their own ceremony.

Sound like something that you’d want to take part in? Then hurry on over to Wedding Chapel on Kickstarter and put your pledge in!

…Gift Cards get high tech?

Target Best Buy Gift Cards

This year, gift cards go beyond just plastic as companies add features to lure you into buying the profit-filled gifts.

New card ideas include Target, which has added a small digital camera to their card, and Best Buy, which chose to go with a speaker that can connect to any MP3 player and play music through the included mini headphone jack.

While the Target card makes sense, because you can use it to capture holiday memories, send thank you pics to the gift giver, and even use it as a camera stand-in on your way to buying a real digital camera of your choice, the Best Buy one seems a little strange, since I can’t imagine the tiny speaker sounding any good as it attempts to keep up with the enthusiastic gift recipient.

Either way though, it’s an interesting idea, and it will be interesting to see what gets attached to a gift card next.

…Justin Gignac collected garbage from the last opening days?

Garbage Cubes

Justin Gignac is at it again, and this time he’s collected the garbage from Shea and Yankee Stadium’s last opening days for a limited edition set of Garbage Cubes.

Each one is one of a kind, and features fresh picked garbage from the respective locations.

Get yours now before they’re all gone; because memories come and go, but garbage lasts forever.

…GrandOpening is a drive-in?

Grand Opening

GrandOpening has reopened, and it’s now Manhattan’s only drive-in cinema.

Twice a night, seven days a week, you and five friends can sit under the painted sky in a 1965 Ford Falcon convertible and enjoy life as it used to be.

Films will start from the ‘60s and progress chronologically each night, and there’s even a full concession stand if you get the munchies mid way.

At just $75 per show, it’s only $12.50 per ticket, which, sadly, isn’t that much for a movie these days.

Grab some friends, grab some tickets, and grab some memories, because it’s only a matter of time before there’s another grand opening.
