…Lottery tickets create the Ghost of a Dream?

Ghost Of A Dream

When Adam Eckstrom and Lauren Was were creating Ghost of a Dream, a full-scale model of a Hummer H3 made entirely of losing lottery tickets, they were thinking about “what people dream about when they scratch the coin against the ticket”. According to Was, “This is a ghost of all those dreams.”

The piece took about 2,400 hours of combined work to make over a six week period, and is covered in $35,000 of losing lottery tickets, which is also the sale price for the piece as well.

Tickets were gathered from areas all around Brooklyn, Miami and Minneapolis, as well as from friends that sent them in from as far as Seattle and Los Angeles. They were then glued to a plywood and metal frame, though being able to look through the grille or the windows and see the frame is part of the charm, as Was noted “it’s just a shell, it’s just a dream.”

…Mini makes custom billboards?

Mini Billboard

Mini is known for being small, but their advertising definitely goes big. Their latest creation is Motorby, a program where interactive billboards will welcome select Mini owners with a personalized greeting. Users of the Motorby program submit information about themselves to Mini, and receive a special key fob in return. Then, when they drive under specially equipped billboards in Chicago, New York, Miami and San Francisco, a message lights up saying things like “Nice Hair Harrold!” or “New Shoes Suze?”. The program ought to be fun until someone hits a pole trying to take a picture of their personalized message or someone hacks it to say something a little less family oriented. Given the choice though, I’d gladly take one that put up the words “Get Off Your Damn Cell Phone” every time I drove by.
