…The Husqvarna DXR 310 is AWESOME?

Husqvarna DXR 310

Unless you’re a demolition contractor, you probably don’t NEED a Husqvarna DXR 310 Demolition Robot, but with a Bluetooth remote control, individually controlled outriggers, tracks that enable it to climb stairs, width narrow enough that you can fit it through doors, and a jackhammer on the end of a 15-foot robotic arm, you’re definitely going to WANT one.

…A day in PARIS is enough?

A day in PARIS is an impressive short from Benoit Millot that combines video with CGI animation to tell the story of a robot and his tour through the city.

…McDonald’s is trying to be automatic?

The last time I was at a McDonald’s, I pulled up to the drive through window and was amazed by what I saw: A machine that prepares your entire drink order without ever needing human interaction.

Here’s the process it goes through: It drops the right size cup (depending on what you order) onto a conveyor belt, moves that cup under an ice dispenser and fills it with ice, moves the cup again under the right soda tap and fills it with the right amount of soda, waits for the fizz to die down, tops it off with more soda, and then moves to where the McDonald’s employee can pick it up. About the only thing it doesn’t do is add a lid, and my guess is that the ability to lid a drink isn’t far off.

Thankfully someone found this whole process as amazing as I did, because I was able to find this video of the machine on YouTube:

I’ve always felt that McDonald’s is going to do everything it can to cut its workers out of the process, and this drink machine just goes to show that the direction they’re heading in is definitely a fully automatic, robotic McDonalds.

Want fries with that?

…Robots have sex?

Sex Lives Of Robots

It’s not exactly porn, but Michael Sullivan’s The Sex Life of Robots isn’t far off.

The ‘actors’ that he crafted out of Barbie Dolls, G.I. Joe action figures and other toys were originally going to star in a robot war movie, but as the project evolved, Michael decided to take it in a different direction.

Now, through stop-motion animation, he has created a film that is potentially more controversial than anything else he was going to create, having been pulled from YouTube after

Somebody’s mom complained, you know, because they didn’t want their kid watching, you know, some robot stick his dick in a horse’s butt.

I guess you can’t fault the man for censoring his vision!

If you’d like to see what all the commotion is about, then the (semi-NSFW) video below provides a preview, and if you’re in the area, Manhattan’s Museum of Sex will be showing the actual dolls that went into the creation of the film.

…Thunder Panda is a papercraft pro?

Thunder Panda Papercraft

If you like the idea of papercraft, but don’t have the skills necessary to pull off some of the more advanced projects, then check out Eric Wiryanta (aka Thunder Panda)’s collection of papercraft toys.

Each of the cute little figures is easy to make, but the results are still rather impressive, so you’ll have an army of pugs, robots and space wanderers adorning your desk before you know it.
