…Models don’t always look like models?

I’ve always been fascinated with the world of fashion and how it shapes and molds our sense of beauty, so it’s great to see the work of artists like Greg Kessler, who photographs models before and after the makeup artist gets them ready for the runway.

Like Dove’s True Beauty Campaign, it gives a fantastically honest look at what these people actually look like, and shows that even the supermodels can’t look like what they look like on the runway.

…You can be a monster?

Mummy Hoody

GRN Appletree has been making unique and fashionable clothing for quite some time now, but I think this Mummy Hoody breaks new and unusual ground in the off the runway world. Made of 30 individual strips of fabric, it hangs and drapes just like a real mummy (or at least a movie mummy) should. Scare your friends and your local kinemortophobic with your new found fashion following its July 2007 release.

…Knitting is fashionable?

Benjamin Cho

Some fashion I will just never understand. This knitted dress by Benjamin Cho features disembodied hands that are knitting the dress as you wear it. Half of me really likes the idea and half of me is really creeped out by it, but I think the eye treatment pushes me to the side of being really creeped out. Unique? Yes. Something anyone not walking on a runway would wear? Probably not.
