From the team that brought you the fantastically useful BugMeNot and RetailMeNot comes PDFMeNot, a new web services that aims to make PDF files much easier to use.

Instead of launching a separate (and often slow) application to view PDF files, PDFMeNot takes those files via upload, URL, bookmarklet, or script and turns them into a Flash display of your document that is cached for future reference.

Take that Adobe!

(The site is in Beta mode until Feb. 13, so login with username: “stateless” and password: “systems” until then.)

…Maison Martin Margiela says “Cheers”?

Cheers Though I don’t usually agree with a lot of man jewelry, I think I could make an exception for this Cheers ring from Maison Martin Margiela.

With an antique brass look, it doesn’t scream “shiny thing, look at me”, and with a built in bottle opener, it adds a lot of function with just a little bit of form. Plus, the “Cheers” that is engraved in script on the top adds a nice little touch of class to an already classy ring.

Beer rings? I’ll take ‘em.

…Beauty pageants are dangerous?

This story is almost too good to be true: During this year’s Miss Puerto Rico pageant, Ingrid Marie Rivera managed to win, despite having her gown and make-up spiked with pepper spray.

Though composed onstage, Marie had to run backstage and strip off her clothes to apply ice bags to her face and body as she swelled up and broke out in hives twice during the competition.

Need a bit of extra excitement to add to the movie script?

Due to a bomb threat, officials had already postponed the last day of the pageant to ensure everyone’s safety.

Who knew the world of beauty could be so deadly?
