…TAG Heuer’s Monaco V4 innovates the wrist watch?

Monaco V4

The TAG Heuer Monaco V4 concept watch is one sexy looking timepiece. It’s powered by an oscillating linear weight that moves back and forth within the central shaft and transmits energy to the four ball bearing barrels through a patented belt drive mechanism. If you’re as confused as I was about what that all means, check out their site for a nice explanation video. I’ll take two.

…doodleBug shows you the drawing process?

doodleBug

doodleBug’s “oodles of doodles” offer a Web 2.0 style sneak peak/behind the scenes look at the creation of some very beautiful pieces of art. The site features a myriad of black and white drawings, and when you click on them, you can watch the creation of each piece, line by line. There’s even a rating system so that you can view only the best. A neat concept indeed.

…Timeline scrolls the date and time?

Timeline Clock

The Timeline Clock is an interesting concept where the date and time are shown on bands that scroll across the screen. It’s a unique way of displaying information, and somehow captivating, though you only really notice the seconds and minutes scrolling along (which does put the slow movement of everything else into perspective). If someone could figure out how, I’m sure this would make an amazing wristwatch. If you click on the clock, you can download Timeline and use it as a screensaver. Very cool.

…Audi announced the R8 in Paris today?

Audi R8

Today in Paris, Audi unleashed the R8 sports car on the world. The specs are as follows:

  • All-aluminum body
  • 4.2L 420-horsepowermid-mounted V8
  • 320 lb-ft peak torque from 4,500 to 6,000 RPM. 90% of max available from 3500 rpm and up
  • 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds
  • Top speed of 187 mph
  • All headlight functions available as LEDs
  • Typically excellent Audi interior
  • Automatically-extending rear spoiler
  • Two transmissions available: 6-speed manual and Audi R Tronic sequential shift gearbox
  • R Tronic can be shifted via console stick or wheel-mounted paddles
  • Quattro all-wheel-drive
  • Available magnetic ride system
  • 18″ wheels standard, 19″ optional
  • First time the Audi rings are on the hood instead of the vehicle grille
  • Clear engine cover
  • 3 colors available for the side trim panel

The looks of this car are stunning, and with 420 horses on tap powering the aluminum body, performance ought to match nicely. I only wish they would have stuffed in a real monster of an engine to compete with the likes of Ferrari or Lamborghini (or even Bugatti). I guess that only happens in my dreams though. Oh well, hopefully this sells well so that companies get the message that people want to buy cars similar to the concept pieces they put out instead of the watered down versions that eventually hit the street. Look for it in early 2007.
