Browser Pong

I have NO idea how it works, but it does, so you must go check out Browser Pong.

The game plays just like regular Pong, but instead of paddles, you move small browser windows around your screen to bounce another browser window back and forth. Each player’s paddle keeps their score, and you can even play against a friend for some multi-player action.

Just remember though, there is a keyboard shortcut to turn off the sound, because you’ll need it.

Cookie Composites ROK

During an Australian vacation, I had a chance to stop by the Cookie Composites shop with a friend that’s an active skydiver so that he could pick up a new lens for his skydive helmet/camera rig.

Seeing this small company that operates on a global scale up close and personal really gave me an appreciation for their hands on approach and handmade quality. Each piece is made with precision and care, and they were happy to show us around even though we showed up at their door essentially unannounced.

Cookie Composites ROK Design

In 2006, Cookie Composites decided to reshape their brand, and hired a team of media and advertisement specialists to develop the brand’s new values. During that time, Ricardo Sa Freire was brought on to develop a range of new helmets that would translate those new values into a signature shape for their new products, and he shared that process online.

The ROK helmet is what came out of that process, and it’s a helmet designed for swoop canopy divers and base jumpers, with air intakes in both sides that are used to measure the speed through the sound of the wind.

Since the process behind the end result is no less impressive than what they created, it’s a fantastic read that gives you a glimpse into the world and work of a real designer as he creates a product that is designed to look good, save lives, and function in some of the most extreme environments imaginable.

Edo Competition Ferrari Enzo

For Edo Competition, nothing is sacred.

The latest car to go under their knife is the Ferrari Enzo, and despite the fact that many Ferrari purists would argue that the Enzo is perfection embodied, Edo would disagree.

Changes include a new ram-air intake system, high-flow air filters, FXX style headers, high-flowing cats, a new exhaust system with remote-controlled butterfly valves to adjust sound levels on the fly, and a modified ECU that helps power levels reach 700 hp and 527 lb.-ft. of torque.

That power is then moved through a retuned transmission that replicates the shift times of the FXX bretherin, and then out through the 19 and 20 inch blacked out rims that are an Edo special.

Suspension has also seen some improvements, with compression and rebound that have been adjusted to match the FIA GT MC12.

According to Edo, 62 mph is now dispatched in just 3.5 seconds, and the car will reach 186 mph in just 22 seconds.

I guess even perfection has some room for improvement!

JL Audio TW5 Thin-Line Subwoofer

The JL Audio TW5 Thin-Line Subwoofer is a staggering piece of sound engineering.

With an extremely shallow mounting depth of only 2.5 inches, it needs only half a foot of enclosure, and is designed for truck and sports car installations where space is a premium.

Despite its thinness, JL hasn’t skimped on the specs, as this sub is available in either a 12” or 13.5” variety, and handles 500 or 600 W respectively.

Get ready to bring the bass to where it’s never been before.

…Lamborghini’s LP640 is automotive nirvana?

The Supercar Movies Lamborghini LP640 film is an amazing piece of automotive nirvana.
Every angle is highlighted, every curve is accentuated, every sound is emphasized, and every pixel is optimized.
And, since it’s available in HD, you won’t miss a single detail.
(Seriously though, for fans of the four-wheel machine, this is a must see.)

…Goog 411’s voice is complicated?

If you’ve ever used Goog 411, Google’s free 411 service (And if you haven’t, I suggest you do. Just dial 1-800-GOOG-411.) then you’ve probably heard the “biddy-biddy-boop” sound that the service makes while looking for your request.
This “fetch audio”, created by Google’s senior voice expert, Bill Byrne, is more unique than you might think.
It had [...]
