…The BMW M3’s V8 is a blast?

How do you advertise for the first ever production V8 in a BMW M3?

Hire IdeaCity to cut manifolds, shave cylinders, drill lighting holes, and whatever else it takes to fit cameras, lenses and lights inside of the engine so that you can film the inside of the beast as it does its thing.

This spot took two weeks to study and prepare for, and four, 20-hour days to film, but in the end, 420 horsepower has never looked so good. (This single revolution was filmed at 10,000 frames per second without any computer-generated effects.)

…Adidas wants you to create original games?

Adidas must have some creative geniuses working for them on a pay for creativity basis, because their latest run of commercials is fantastic.

On the heels of their Adi Dassler spot, they released this one called “Original Games”, and it should ring true for anyone who has ever taken what’s around them and turned it into a game of some sort.

Anyone else getting fond memories from this?

…Your Focus wants to join the orchestra?

In the spirit of Honda’s Cog commercial comes this new Ford spot for the UK Focus that turned and tuned various parts from the car into musical instruments.

There’s the “Transmission Case Cello-Dulcimer”, a “Clutch Guitar”, a “Rear Suspension Spike Fiddle”, and a “Fender Bass” among other things, and each one manages to sound good when mashed with the rest.

Though there’s no way of telling if these parts actually played music, or if they just played the part, it sure does look convincing.

I guess it’s time that I re-up my Fender Bass lessons!

…Virgin is in mating season?

Virgin has always been a little ‘different’.

To help promote their Virgin Trains, they created this spot, which features animals (or people dressed up like animals) going at it like…animals.

It might not be ready for prime time, but I like to see a company that is willing to take a few risks with their advertising.
