…WordPress has been upgraded?

WordPress

Last night I took the plunge and upgraded to WordPress 2.5, and so far, everything has been working as expected.

The install took about 5 minutes (not accounting for the back-up time) and went without a hitch. All of my plug-ins seem to be chugging along fine, and I haven’t noticed any drastic changes to the front of the scenes look of the site.

Behind the scenes is where most of WP 2.5’s changes occurred though, so I guess that’s to be expected. The whole interface was revamped, and changes include:

  • Multi-file uploading
  • One-click plugin upgrades
  • Built-in galleries
  • Customizable dashboard
  • Salted passwords and cookie encryption
  • Media library
  • A WYSIWYG that doesn’t mess with your code
  • Concurrent post editing protection
  • Full-screen writing
  • Search that covers posts and pages

Let me know if you see anything go wonky in the next few days, but if you’re looking to make the switch/upgrade to WordPress 2.5, I give it two thumbs up.

…DYH is changing hosts?

Ahm bizzy sleepn.

Faithful DYH readers,

Good News: DidntYouHear.com is now on a new, and hopefully 20 times better host! (Full explanation of the reasons for the switch, along with impressions of the new host coming soon.)

Bad News: It took me over 6 hours to make the change, and now I need some sleep!

Thus, DYH is going to be a little lite on the updates today, but I’ll have some new stuff up ASAP, and the site should be fully functioning and normal again in about 24 hours. (For now, everything has to cycle through http://s18719.gridserver.com/)

Thanks for your understanding,

Cory

…The Switchboard wants you to play in the snow?

Venom Switchboard

Conquer the slopes in style with Venom’s Switchboard, a new way to play in the powder.

The Switchboard is a cross between a snowboard, a skateboard, a scooter, and skis, and features a double hinge in the middle for steering, foot straps to lock you in place without the need for special boots, and a shock absorbed steering bar to help you turn the slopes into your own personal board park.

Are you ready to make the switch?
