…I’ve selected a winner?

Lazy Earth ChairLast Friday, I held a contest for a new description of DidntYouHear.com, and the submissions were fantastic!

Unfortunately, since DYH isn’t exactly pulling in the big bucks yet, I can’t give everyone a prize, and I have to pick a winner.

Thus, I’d like to say congratulations to evilgregg for coming up with the winning description:

“The lazy man’s guide to the coolest stuff on the planet.”

It’s short and sweet, and does a pretty good job of describing exactly what this site is all about. Thanks Gregg!

To everyone else who participated, I’d just like to say thanks for contributing, and I’m sorry I can’t give you all a prize, since you definitely deserve one.

…DYH is back?

I fought the server and the…server won; I fought the server and the…server won.

Google ServerUnfortunately, due to a “problem with the DNS records for didntyouhear.com” this site has been down for the past four days, and anyone who visited (myself included) was handed little more than a 500 Error page.

In addition to the site going down, this DNS error also knocked out my email server, so for everyone who sent me a kind (and much appreciated) email to let me know that the site was down, I want to say thanks, and let you know that your message just came though, so I apologize for my delayed response.

The good news is that the error is now fixed, and Didn’t You Hear will be returning with full force (and then some) on Monday; so if you’ve lost all hope, then please come back on Monday for a reminder of why you started to visit DYH in the first place.

    For any of you with blogs of your own out there, just remember: Backups are your friend. I try to backup as frequently as possible, but I still don’t do it enough, and all I could think of during this issue was, “Man, what if this error manages to clean out my site’s data as well”.

    Thankfully it didn’t, but the potential was definitely there, so remember: Backup, Backup, Backup.

200000 Unique ViewsToday was a milestone day for Didn’t You Hear, as the 200,000th unique visitor came to the site for a look.

Thanks to everyone who has ever stopped by, and a double thanks to everyone who has ever returned, because you’re the reason that I still do this blogging thing.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is a way for the company to show you what you could look like if you had a million dollar body, a personal lingerie stylist…and wings.

While it’s really just a way for the company to get some relatively cheap publicity, it’s also a chance to see some of the most beautiful women in the world in their undies, so I’ll gladly give them a little link love as a way of saying thanks.
