…It’s Things Thursday: 48 Hour Magazine?

48 Hour Magazine

The 48 Hour Magazine was “a raucous experiment in using new tools to erase media’s old limits. As the name suggests, we’re going to write, photograph, illustrate, design, edit, and ship a magazine in two days.”

The first issue, titled Hustle, received more than 1,500 submissions, which two dozen editors then trimmed down to the final 70 selections.

If you’d like to see what a unique idea, a handful of volunteers and a weekend’s worth of hustle can produce, then head on over and order up a copy.

…It’s Things Thursday: DODOcase?

The limited edition DODOcase is a beautiful, hand made iPad case that is designed to protect it from extinction.

Inspired by Moleskine journals and made by hand in San Francisco using traditional book binding techniques, the case blends the traditional feel of a book with the technological power of the iPad. With an interior made from bamboo and a faux leather cover, it’s also environmentally friendly, so you can rest easy if that’s a check box in your buying decision.

Lastly, the cover is designed to be folded back so you can stand your iPad, and an elastic strap keeps the cover tight when you’re on the go.

If the Apple case isn’t doing it for you, and you want to make sure your iPad stands out from the crowd, then definitely give the DODOcase a look, because there’s really just nothing like it that’s alive today.

…It’s Things Thursday: Time Machine?

Time Machine

It’s hard to imagine a clock that’s cooler than the Time Machine.

Instead of hands, the Time Machine drops a chrome ball down a wooden track every sixty seconds. As the balls stack up, the numbers that they come to rest next to tell the time.

It’s loud, it’s imprecise, and it’s severely over complicated, but I challenge you to try and find a more interesting way of counting off the minutes.

…It’s Things Thursday: MiniWatt?

The MiniWatt tube amp might be the world’s smallest, and it might only put out a meager 2.5 watts per channel, but that doesn’t stop it from delivering full, robust sound that is wow’ing audiophile reviewers the world over. In fact, ToneAudio magazine recently named the MiniWatt their “Product of the Year” in the budget audio category.

Sure, it only has one stereo input, and it’ll still set you back $269, but if you’re looking for high-end sound quality for a (relatively) low-end price, then you can’t do much better than the MiniWatt.
