…Nike makes SB Dunk tributes?

Nike’s SB line of skate shoes are often some of the most creative tributes to grace your feet.

Nike Dunk SB 720 Degrees

First, there’s the Nike Dunk SB “720 Degrees”. Inspired by the first skateboarding arcade game, Atari’s 720 Degrees, these kicks feature a perfect match to the game’s color scheme, and will definitely make you stand out at the next arcade competition.

Nike Dunk SB Newcastle Brown Ale

Then, there’s the Nike Dunk SB “Newcastle Brown Ale”. Inspired by the delicious brown ale out of Newcastle, England, these kicks feature a hoppy style that is perfect for your next beer fest.

Regardless of your style, there’s no doubting the creativity that goes into a mash-up like this; and I commend Nike for thinking outside the box when is comes to design.

…It’s Movie Monday: Red Bull BC One?

Red Bull BC One

The Red Bull BC One is a B-Boy competition that pits 16 of the world’s best B-Boys against each other in a one on one knock-out-battle to determine who is ‘The One’.

When athleticism and art combine, the result is amazing:

…Furni wants to see your skills?

Furni

Furni Show Us Your SkillsFurni, the clock (and furniture) design company, wants you to show them your skills, and is giving you clock guts to do it with.

To take part in the design competition, just order one of their clock parts kits, build a box to house them in, and then show off your stuff. The winner might even see their design in the next Furni collection.

Regardless of the result, you’ll at least end up with a clock that no one else has (though there’s probably a reason you’re not a professional clock designer), and the pride of knowing that you made something with your bare hands. It’s clock time.

…Kobayashi is injured?

Takeru “Tsunami” KobayashiTakeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi is apparently suffering from jaw arthritis due to his rigorous training, and might not be able to compete for the next Nathan’s hot dog eating championship. According to Kobayashi, his jaw can only open to make a gap the size of a fingertip, as it “refused to fight any more”. I wish him the best, and hope that we can see him in record setting form again in time for the contest.

…Threadcakes has picked winners?

Threadcakes Winner

Threadcakes definitely upped the bar this year, as the winner’s cakes look like spot on (and delicious) reproductions of their printed counterparts.

Jennifer Flynn took home the Grand Prize with her 3D rendition of Noah Express, while Angel Adkins’ ‘Bird Migration’ took 2nd, and Lauren Babis’ interpretation of ‘The Red’ captured 3rd.

The rest of the cakes are equally impressive, so be sure to browse through the gallery and see what the fuss was all about.

…Infectious ate Popdeck?

Infectious Eats Popdeck

Infectious has always been the place to go for some of the best artist designed iPhone skins, iPod skins, car decals, adhesive wall art and laptop art around, and now they’re the place to go for custom skateboard decks as well thanks to a recent purchase of Popdeck, the former skate deck champion.

Both Infectious and Popdeck are similar to Threadless in that artists can submit designs and then the community votes on the winners, which means each new piece of art is unique and there should be plenty to chose from to match your style.

To get the new and improved Popdeck purchase off the ground, Infectious is also hosting an art contest called the Skate Deck Design Challenge, and if your design is one of the first five to be picked to become a skate deck, you’ll win fabulous prizes that range from $1000 in cold hard cash to a limited edition, never to be sold “Infectious Eats Popdeck” skate deck.
