…It’s Website Wednesday: Joobili?

Joobili

Joobili is an interesting idea in travel: You tell them when you want to go, and they’ll tell you where.

The service keeps an active database of unique and fun events that are going on around the world, and then matches the dates you have available to the things you can go do/see. From there, you’re just a few clicks away from booking your trip and embarking on the semi-unplanned adventure of a lifetime.

…You can hack your brain to hallucinate?

Hallucinations

Want to hallucinate without the harsh after effects of mind-altering substances using just a radio and some ping-pong balls?

The Boston Globe has put together a few easy illusions, hallucinations and psychedelic experiences that can take you on a trip with objects you probably already have around the house and just a few minutes of your time.

The tricks include the Ganzfeld Procedure, the Pinocchio Illusion, the Rubber Hand Illusion, and Purkinje Lights, and each sounds more trippy than the last.

Plus, unlike LSD, magic mushrooms or mescaline, these phenomena can all be turned off just as easily as they’re turned on, allowing you a safe and temporary escape from the trappings of your mind.

…The Internet is having a balloon race?

Orange is hosting the World’s first Internet Balloon Race, and DidntYouHear is taking part.

I’ve entered P-Nut the raccoon into the race (you should be able to see him in the bottom left of the screen), and DidntYouHear.com is a destination that racers can stop at to earn “miles” during the race. Then, the person with the most miles at the end of the wins a trip to Ibiza.

If you’d like to participate in the race, just click on P-Nut and it should take you to the Orange site where you can sign up and get your own balloon to race.

Hurry though, because the race ends in just four days.

…DYH is in Chicago?

Chicago

I’m going on a work related trip to Chicago today, so DYH is going to be light on the updates, but in place of my normal posts, I’ve added tons of cool/great/awesome/semi-lame links from my “write about this one day” pile to the DidntYouHear.com Facebook Page.

If you haven’t already, be sure to become a fan of the page, since I’m going to try to use it more often as a place to put all of the interesting links that I find that I just don’t have time to write a full post about.

See you there!

…SKAGGS shot a lot of water?

Water Bottles

A TOTO HET toilet can save up to 24,655 gallons of water per year, but how do you show that visually so that you can truly grasp what a number like that means?

That’s the question that SKAGGS faced for their latest photo shoot, and the answer involved “2 months of planning, 1 trip from El Paso to Dallas and back, 1,000 – 5 gallon water bottles, 3 trucks, 2 tractors, 1 buggy and a whole lot of man (and woman) power”.

Click the links for a rather interesting behind the scenes.
