Trying to help out the environment by walking instead of driving? According to Chris Goodall, a leading environmentalist, you may be doing more harm than good, as the energy required to produce the food needed to give you the calories it takes to get somewhere is worse for the environment than what would come out of your car during a drive of the same distance.
How about this:
- Riding on a diesel powered train is twice as polluting as making that same trip in a car.
- Paper bags are worse for the environment than plastic because of the energy required to produce them.
So if you’ve got the Earth’s best interest at heart during your day to day, give what you’re doing a second thought, because things might not be as they seem.
